X Minus 1
was a half-hour old time radio show
broadcast from April 1955 to January 1958 on
NBC. It was actually a revival of Dimension
X and is widely considered to be among the
finest radio dramas ever produced.
The first
fifteen episodes were new versions of
Dimension X episodes, but the remainder were
adaptations of newly published science
fiction stories by respected writers such as
Frederik Pohl, Theodore Sturgeon, Ray
Bradbury, Isaac Asimov and Robert Heinlein,
with a few original scripts.
X Minus 1
was cancelled on January 9th, 1958. The cast
includes Art Carney, Jack Grimes, Jack
Lemmon, Santos Ortega, Norman Rose, Jackson
Beck, Mandel Kramer, Peter Lazer, Joan Lazer,
Larry Haines, Everett Sloane, Joan
Alexander, Jan Miner, Claudia Morgan, Ralph
Bell, Raymond Edward Johnson, Bryna Raeburn,
Patricia Wheel, Joyce Gordon, Ronald Liss,
